Blog: Natural(er) Artificial Intelligence

What do ladybugs, pythons and raspberries have to do with AI? And how does Datacadabra take advantage of this?

Intelligence is seen all around us in nature. The perfect shape of a raspberry, a python shedding its skin, a camel storing water in its hump, these are all examples of how ingenious nature is. Not surprisingly, many things within the realm of AI are based on nature. Today we walk through a few to give you an idea of how AI takes inspiration from nature!

Python

Besides being a special snake, python is also one of the most widely used programming languages in the world within the AI domain. Its simplicity and great flexibility with many standard open-source AI components available makes it the default go-to programming language.

Beast

Many a child has a fascination with ladybugs. They are cute and you can count their dots. For one of our clients, we are working with the LadyBug (English for ladybug) camera. This has 5 dots (cameras) that can be used to capture the environment.

Camel

Information must be stored, just like the water in a camel. To do this, we use variables in programming. These all have their own names that allow data to be distinguished and easily retrieved. Naming these can be done in different ways, in camel case (variableName) or in snake case (variable_name).

Raspberry

The warm weather is coming again and so everyone in our office is in high spirits, it's almost time for raspberry pie again. But did you know that there are also small computers called that? The so-called Raspberry Pi. These can be used to create energy-efficient measurement setups that read and transmit data from sensors. You can also use simple AI models on these to immediately analyze the sensor data and provide any signals to the user. We at Datacadabra always say: We do the difficult with ease, the simple preferably with cake.
