The MowHawk: 4 Employees in one device

The MowHawk is a co-pilot, GIS collaborator, management assistant and researcher all in one device that goes along with the existing mowing operation and thus requires no additional planning or budget. An important link in nature-inclusive public space management.

Datacadabra and Wim van Breda will be together next week at the Vakbeurs Openbare Ruimte in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.. There we will show the product of our unique collaboration: The MowHawk. A smart camera that enables nature-inclusive roadside management (NL:52,000 ha of roadside), but is also used in nurseries, agriculture and urban management.

Creating or managing a sustainable living environment can be very complex. There are many things to consider at the same time and limited time, capacity and budget to implement everything properly. We also need to know much more and better about the state of the living environment in order to make the right decisions. At the intersection of unruly practice and the urgent need for complete and accurate information, Datacadabra and its partners operate. They develop smart solutions that enable both practice and policy-making to fulfill our societal promise to the future: a sustainable living environment.

The MowHawk accompanies the normal mowing route and collects information entirely autonomously. To strengthen the driver (direct guidance and feedback during mowing, direct output in GIS systems) and to enrich policy (accurate and complete information about vegetation, litter and mowing results, among other things). Since September 2021, the MowHawk has been in use by the Province of Overijssel. The application in (roadside) mowing is 1 of many possible application areas including urban management, agriculture and nurseries. Applications in building and facility management are also already under development.
