European rules for safe handling of AI

The European Commission yesterday presented a set of rules to combat the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI). The rules explain how companies and governments should handle the technology.

For example, the rules are about making sure the data these systems work with is tiptop, to prevent people from being wronged. It must also be traceable how a computer arrived at a particular conclusion, and people must always continue to perform checks.

Because the technology AI still feels new to people, it is important that there is a bond of trust. This is something we value highly at Datacadabra. Safe and privacy-proof handling of data is therefore a requirement for us. We do this by, for example, demonstrating at model level that we do not detect anything that affects privacy sensitivity. We also anonymize all our data. For example, we automatically make people and license plates unrecognizable.

Future-oriented

The EU hopes the rules will set lines for global action. However, the European Commission's proposal still needs to be assessed. The new legislation is expected to enter into force in a few years. In any case, we think it is a great initiative. Towards ethical technology throughout the world!
