Datacadabra

Green City Enschede

Datacadabra values the health of both people and the environment, and with our technological solutions, we try to do our part to contribute to a more sustainable society. In this week's article, we make a special discovery. Curious? Then read on quickly.

At Datacadabra we value sustainability and circularity, our developments therefore all serve a social interest. We do our best to combine planet, people and profit so that our projects can deliver a positive impact on the environment. For example, the MowHawk provides circularity in roadside mowing and monitors the Luistervinq monitors the sporting use of public spaces. We have also entered into a partnership with NL Greenlabel, an organization that stands for a measurably sustainable living environment. Through them, we were introduced to the Husqvarna Urban Green Space Index, abbreviated to HUGSI.

HUGSI

HUGSI is an artificial intelligence-based solution that assigns a green index to cities scattered around the globe. Their ambition is to improve and protect greenery in cities and their environments (https://www.husqvarna.com/nl/verduurzamen/hugsi/). Indeed, greenery in cities contributes to a variety of environmental and health aspects such as air quality, drought, drainage and temperature regulation. These facets, in turn, influence residents' health and happiness. The index is based on the percentage of green space in the city, the average health of urban green space, the percentage of trees in urban green space and the amount of space covered with grass, among other factors. It also looks at the amount of construction and water present in the city and its surroundings.

The greenest city in the Netherlands!

When we delved into this index, we came to an amazing discovery, namely that Enschede ranks 19th worldwide and 13th in Europe! This makes Enschede the greenest city in the Netherlands, followed by Eindhoven at spots 31 and 22 respectively. Given our green values, interests and goal to contribute to a more sustainable world, we are very proud that the city where we find our origin and from where we bring our developments into the world scores so well. However, the goal is of course to become even greener and more sustainable, and Datacadabra is happy to contribute to that!
