Highlight in Project Luistervinq

Last week the first session with the user group of project Luistervinq, a sustainable solution to monitor the use of public outdoor spaces, took place. The meeting was organized by Datacadabra, and all users of the Luistervinq were digitally present to get updates and to discuss further steps of the project. It was a very successful meeting!

What is project Luistervinq?

The Luistervinq is a solution being developed to monitor sports usage in outdoor public spaces in the most sustainable way possible. The assignment comes from Sportinnovator, by whom Datacadabra was named one of the winners of the challenge "develop a solution to make data on sports use of public space transparent.

Our solution is the Luistervinq, an AI-powered & privacy-proof activity monitor that can map four activities: walking, running, cycling and mountain biking. The Luistervinq will have the appearance of a birdhouse, so that it blends into its environment as much as possible and does not disturb it. Through the use of two microphones connected to a solar panel, the Luistervinq is a very sustainable solution to detect outdoor usage, and provide insight into the crowds and usage types of a particular outdoor area. This provides insight into various aspects regarding the health of residents, tourism and recreational use, and these insights can be turned into opportunities to get even more people moving!

User Group Meeting

In order to involve all connected partners in this project as well as possible and to keep them informed of what is happening, a meeting was held last week especially for the user group. This group consists of Recreation Area Het Hulsbeek, Routenetwerken Twente, Municipality of Losser and Marketing-Oost, and will follow the developments and assess the usability and such. The group will also give advice to Datacadabra in order to come to the best possible solution together. The University of Twente is also involved in this project, to fulfill the technical aspect in cooperation with Datacadabra. This Twente collaboration aims to play a pioneering role in monitoring the sporting use of this public space and thus serve as an example for the Netherlands.

During the meeting Datacadabra presented the state of affairs of the Luistervinq and together with the user group determined the further steps of the project, in order to identify all wishes and ideas. The meeting was very successful with many good insights and possibilities for the Luistervinq.

Thanks to Recreation Area het Hulsbeek, Routenetwerken Twente, Municipality of Losser and Marketing-Oost for their enthusiastic participation and input during this meeting!
