Datacadabra

Looking back on 2021

What all happened at Datacadabra in 2021? What milestones were achieved? In this article, we take you through the events of the year.

What happened in 2021?

Last year Datacadabra experienced many developments. In terms of projects, it started promisingly, for example, at the beginning of the year it was announced that the Sportinnovator Challenge Monitors Sport Public Space was won by Datacadabra. This project delivered a wonderful solution in November, namely the Luistervinq. Work is currently underway to make the Luistervinq ready for the market and cooperation with a hardware partner has begun.

Also, our other pride had a good year: the MowHawk. Not only was the system completed on time, it was also ready in time for the last round of mowing this year! Furthermore, several publications have written about the MowHawk and the system has been nominated for a number of awards, including the KVK Innovation Top 100. None of this would have been possible without the cooperation of Wim van Breda, our hardware partner for the MowHawk. Recently Wim van Breda's brand new website is online, including the possibility to order the MowHawk.

Completed projects

During the past year, we not only worked on the Luistervinq and the MowHawk, we also managed to complete some great assignments with leading clients! For example, we completed a project for accelerated design of fiber optic networks for KPN, we worked on smart counting of tree stock for Boomkwekerij Van den Berk, and we performed an automated cover classification for BeeXact. In addition to these completed projects, we will also be working next year on a longer promising project at Briegel. We hope to be able to share more about this in 2022!

In addition to project developments, there are also a number of milestones to celebrate internally: for example, we have expanded the team from 4 employees to 9; with four new full-timers and a graduate student from the University of Twente.

Furthermore, we at Datacadabra have been working on our visibility: we entered into a partnership with NL Greenlabel, something we are extremely proud of given our shared goals in the area of sustainability. We also visited several trade shows, including the Vakbeurs Openbare Ruimten where we exhibited the MowHawk and CES Unveiled in Amsterdam. At CES Unveiled, we got to announce some big news, namely that Datacadabra is going to CES Las Vegas in January 2022 with the MowHawk! This is another milestone we are very proud of.

What's coming up in 2022?

In addition to a spectacular kickoff with our participation in CES in Las Vegas, there is already more in the pipeline for next year. A number of follow-up assignments are planned, we are in talks with a cooperation partner for the Luistervinq and projects are coming up with new clients in the areas of building management, public maintenance and public design. In these ways, we are getting more and more enthusiastic about supporting even more companies and their employees with digital intelligence.

Of course we will continue the development of the MowHawk and the Luistervinq in the coming year. For the MowHawk we will expand the detection capabilities, improve the existing models even further and prepare the next MowHawk, which will be number 3! We will also do follow-up work for the Luistervinq, including adding new locations to improve and extend the models and duration testing will be done in combination with possible hardware developments for improvements in detection.

In short, 2021 was a great, innovative and productive year for Datacadabra. We therefore hope that 2022 will be even more innovative and successful, together with our partners and clients.
